Great idea, it’s something that would really take advantage of the “Mac Web.” I think this could work both as a “I recommend these apps” badge as well as a more typical “here is a mac app you may be interested in” in ad.

One thing that I think would really help drive this would be to get some quality designers on board to do the badges/tags/ads. I’m sure people would pay up to get nicer ads into the system without having to scramble for a designer (if they don’t have one) or god forbid do the ad themselves. It would also guarantee that the ads all are eye catching and attractive, things you really wouldn’t mind having on your page.

There is a free ad server that I’ve used in the past, called openads (I used it when it was phpadsnew) that might be useful for this.

The idea has my vote. Cross-traffic definitely makes a difference in both web site hits and sales.

I think it sounds like a great idea which would strengthen the already solid mac developer community. Although all my current projects are open source and not really that well known, it would be a great network to participate in if I do decide to sell my applications in the future.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I also like the idea of having a central site that would list all the members products. It could essentially be the public face to the central server/database that provides the ads to each member’s site.
