MarsEdit 2.0.1

September 17th, 2007

I was very lucky with MarsEdit 2.0. Thanks to high quality private beta testing, there have been no catastrophic bug reports with the release. It’s been nice to spend time over the past two weeks patiently accepting feedback from new and old users alike, instead of scrambling to get an urgent fix out the door.

Well, now it’s time for a patiently developed update to fly. MarsEdit 2.0.1 includes just a handful of “relatively urgent” fixes that make the application slightly more polished in a few areas.

  • External Editing
    • Reactivate MarsEdit when external editing ends
    • Add WriteRoom to default list of external editors
    • Fix sort-order of external editor list
    • Avoid hanging when external editor set to app not on computer
  • Evaluation mode
    • For existing MarsEdit customers, show old serial in registration dialog
    • Fix a bug that caused demo to nag user earlier than it should have
  • Fix auto-configuration for Typo weblog system
  • Fix a bug when trying to print a blank post
  • Fix miscellaneous typos and small bugs

I hope you all continue to enjoy the stability and polish of MarsEdit 2.0!

Update: Remember those beta testers I was so praising of in the first paragraph? Well I guess I should have let them have a crack at this release before setting it free. Just a minor tweak, but I had messed up the Date column in the posts outline. It’s fixed in MarsEdit 2.0.2.

You jinxed it. Two weeks was a good run though.
