I read this link off of a post of yours on twitter....dove in with Aaron Hillegass’s book (fabulous), then promptly forgot where I found this good info. Finally, tonight I make my way back, planning to pick up Learn ObJ-C on the Mac and it's gone! Seems they've been acquired by Apress! Great for them, so-so for Steve!

This has nothing to do with the post: your RSS feed lists "testuser" in the dc:creator element.

The name "possible/probable" comes from a quote that gave me pause. The historian Lewis Mumford once said: "I am optimistic about the possibilities, but pessimistic about the probabilities."

My blog is dedicated to the idea that we should be brave enough to convert that which is possible into that which is probable. (Although, I must admit that I have strayed from this theme many times.)

I wanted to thank Daniel for the kind words. It brings me great satisfaction to see the intent of my blog recognized and appreciated.

I agree with the book recommendations as well and I've heard good things about the BNR courses from attendees.

Risks are indeed frightening but I think can be mitigated somewhat by doing what Aaron suggests in his post about the power of compound interest: start out with some cash. In his case, he suggests taking out a loan, I assume supplemented by savings. I would personally suggest just saving up money, enough to get you going and get you through any slow sales months. And perhaps getting some angel funding via family or friends if you need it.

As far as possibility / probability goes, I'd say that if you don't try, then your chances are 0%. The more you prepare, practice, and persist, the higher your probability of success becomes.

I second these recommendations. I learned cocoa by first reading Hillegass’s book, and then Scott's book "Cocoa Programming". I also had the upper hand opportunity to also read the source code, which helped greatly :)
