Anyway, I think it would be nice if you had a repository on your web site that users could submit add-ons to. These could take the form of FlexTime routines, AppleScripts, etc. that enhance the usefulness of your products. A good (though somewhat poorly-implemented) model for this is Ambrosia Software; they have a repository for all of their games that users can submit files for others to download. It helps foster a community around their products and is a nice service for their users.

Perhaps a better-implemented model is Apple's own downloads repositories, especially the Dashboard Widgets one.

Set up my blog at wordpress.com.
Set up my blog hosting at bluehost.com

Used Simplescript and installed Wordpress.

BUT.... now find that I get an error message when trying to post using MarsEdit:
XML-RPC services are disabled.

I went into wordpress.com, found the 'writing' section in the dashboard but don't see any way to enable XML-RPC. Am I looking for this in the wrong area?

I downloaded the trial version of MarsEdit and although I can post it is not possible to fetch the other posts, tags etc. After browsing another topic I noticed this was related to WP and not MarsEdit but I was wondering if there is a generic workaround? I created a new post and tried to upload an image and get this error message:
Upload File Error
Can’t do upload file for Creeper Jess Blog because the server reported an error. The server returned an unexpected response code: 413.

When I try to publish my draft without the image, it asks me for my Network Authentication (username/password). I enter it and click ok, then the same box pops up asking for my username/password.

Am I missing something? Is this a problem with MarsEdit or WordPress? - Post Formats - For publishing image, video, quote, gallery, status etc posts
- Featured Image - for publishing a main image correctly

As a result its impossible for me to use MarsEdit to run my blog, it simply doesn't work. I have read back in the forums and there are people requesting these features months and years back, and the only response has been that these features are on the TODO list.

If it is simply not possible to access these features via the Wordpress API then please do let me know, however if it is and its just that they are not implemented in MarsEdit then I think I need to find an alternate solution.

Can anyone give me any hope that these features will make it into MarsEdit? Or suggest work arounds or plugins that would allow me to use my blog properly?

i know how to set up my own server and i'm not to greedy to pay for it, but it is timeconsuming and annoying. and i know i would spend days to choose the best provider, the best software, to install the best plugins, figure out the most secure configuration, research css-hacks, backup everything, keep everything updated,...

on the other hand i hate those "free" blogging services like wordpress.com or blogger that pollute your blog with ads and act like they were doing you a favour in letting you use their services while you generate their income.

This is NOT a link from html source, nor is it a link from an image. What I am trying to do is the same as selecting text, and making it a link....except I am trying to do it with a photo. And it's not working.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not supported? Seems pretty basic to be something that is not supported, and I would be very disappointed with my purchase if this is the case.
