Hi there.. I am having a problem with my MarsEdit 3.3.. on Mac OSX 10.6.7..

When I am composing a new post, if I try to format text using the Fonts toolbar, most of the functions within it do not actually take effect. Specifically I am trying to use the strikethrough feature, but I noted that even the basic bold, italics, and underline to not work. These basic features DO work when I use the shortcut keys (⌘B etc).

I have rebooted several times, and updated to the latest available version of MarsEdit.

I have used these features in the past, and I don't recall any changes I have made between the last time I used them, and now.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Adam

About 40% of the posts I do on TeleRead come from other authors who send their stuff to me for reposting. It's a real pain to have to post in MarsEdit as a draft and then go into WordPress and change the author and publish it. I've noticed that when I do that and then switch back to html view, that M.E. has mangled the formatting of my html. It's all still correct, but I try to code html in a readable format, but the switch turns it into one long text stream that's a royal pain to read and edit. I suspect that means that it's converted to a more efficient form for submission to the blog, but could it be left alone in the html edit window? (If M.E. had auto formatting for editing html, that would be different, but it doesn't.)

Hi, I have a question about the default behavior of dragging image into MarsEdit. When I drag an image from my desktop to MarsEdit, it opens up a dialog in which I can decide the dimensions, alignment and etc and then it adds a tag. This is totally fine, but I want to know if I can change this, maybe just upload to wordpress server and add the image URL. The reason I am asking is that I am using a shortcode for all my images, so right now after I dragged an image into ME, I need to manually delete all the tag and add my own shortcode. Just want to know if this is possible.

Thanks,

MarsEdit does not show images in blog posts - both pre-existing posts and those created with it - showing a broken link/missing image placeholder with a question mark instead. At the same time it correctly uploads images when creating new posts - the images can be seen on the website, but not in ME itself. The images posted to a public (world-readable) Wordpress.com blog are seen just fine. Probably, ME does not provide website registration info when trying to retrieve the images for a private blog?
This is a show-stopper for me. One of the primary reasons we are using MarsEdit is to help my wife compose blog posts. Having the ability to access Flickr and insert images was a key reason to purchase the software. Unfortunately, it works only occasionally. Here is an example from a blog post draft my wife recently composed and sent to WordPress (still in draft status).

9 out of 15 photos inserted show up as "this image or video is currently unavailable." All were inserted using the same size.

Using one picture as an example, I right-click and open the link in another tab - it takes me here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/48315294@N00/7895540498

As you can see, that photo is there. But when I go into WordPress and look at the image Source URL it is this:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8437/7895540498_1d78a33911_n.jpg

As you can see, this redirects to the "photo unavailable" image.

If I go into Flickr and pick the 320x240 image (the size we originally chose) the link is here:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8437/7895540498_0662235c52_n.jpg

Why this discrepancy? What is causing this, and is there anything I can do (in either MarsEdit or Flickr) to avoid this?

Hi Red Sweater,

Been trying out MarsEdit and so far it's pretty awesome - I'm very impressed. However, I'm having one small but nagging problem and that is that when I apply blockquote to a single paragraph of text, either in Rich Text of HTML text, it removes that single paragraph's p tags and I have to go back in and re-add them. However if you select more than paragraph of text and then apply blockquote, it keeps the p tags just fine.

Now when I build a macro that opens with blockquote p and closes with /p blockquote, that encodes a single blockquoted paragraph perfectly. But if I use that macro on multiple paragraphs, then it adds extra p tags and then I have to go in and remove them...

Obviously I'd love to just have command for blockquote that behaves the same for any number of paragraphs, I'm a blogger and we blockquote like crazy.

Is this a bug or I am doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Chas

Greetings,

I've run into a issue tonight that has really created a lot of frustrations for me. While working on a new post, I would try to press TAB to create a indentation. However, when I press the TAB key, it skips out of the text editor and moves over to the Add Category field. If I Shift-TAB it skips to the Post Title field. It seems that tabs for indentation do not always work when I want them to. If I close the editor and re-open it, indentation tabs work again, but then go away and tab begins shifting the focus around again.

Is there something I can change to disable tabbed focus changing?

Thanks.
Johnathon

My blog was just upgraded to Wordpress 3.4.1 from an older 2.7 version. Now when I try to refresh posts I get this message:

Can’t get recent posts for Comics Beat because the server reported an error: unexpected response code 500.

Any idea what is causing this? I suspect it's a plugin but I have a lot to upgrade.

Thanks!

If any of you use the Zenfolio photo hosting website, and you use the Zenfolio built-in blog - do you have any suggestions how to use MarsEdit to post to Zenfolio? Zenfolio's tech support says theirs is not a Wordpress blog but that doesn't help me figure out what to do - or if it will even work.

Thanks

Bohdan

First, I save images in the size I want, width being the dimension that determines the rest. The Media Manager often changes that width, forcing me to reenter it manually.

Second, when I click an expansion triangle to open a folder, I want the cursor to remain on the triangle or on the folder name. Instead it jumps a long way off.

One would expect such behaviors to be options of choice — in the program, the finder, or the system preferences. Anyone know how to exercise that choice and change the defaults?

(Apologies if my questions have already been answered elsewhere. I did search, really, but failed to find anything.)

Hi,
How can I change the Post status to automatically be draft unless I change it to published rather than the other way round? I have looked in the preferences and not fond an option. I would prefer it this way round so that there has to be a definite decision to publish. Thanks

When I create a post via AppleScript, I cannot save it and close it. Close works fine, but then it prompts to save. If I send a "save" handler, it doesn't save and the script hangs until it times out. I'm trying to make a large series of posts at once to migrate a blog from one platform to another, so having close and save work properly is key.

Here is an example script. It does the same thing for any save command or "close with saving".

tell application "MarsEdit"
set myBlog to blog "Foo"
make new document
tell document 1
set title to "Bar"
set body to "Baz"
set current blog to myBlog
save
close
end tell
end tell

I need to ask about how ME uses the templates for image links. I wanted a custom flickr link, that is I wanted to style the content a bit using CSS so I made a template that looks like this (with added spaces so it displays here)

< div class="flickrimage">< img src="#fileurl#" height="#imgheight#" width="#imgwidth#" alt="#displayname#">< p> #displayname#< /p>

What I get is

< div class="flickrimage">< a href="xxxxxx" title="yyyyyy">< img alt="zzzzzz" width="500" src="aaaaaa" height="334" / >< /a>< p> gggggg< /p>< /div>

The interesting part for me is the "/ >" ending of img tag. Why is that inserted? As far as I understand, http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/objects.html#h-13.2, there shouldn't be a '/' before the closing '>' here.
