Media upload dialog is unproductive for adding files from local computer
  • The "On My Mac" window is really counterintuitive and does not allow you to browse local folders in order to upload files.

I think that this dialog should inherit the Finder sidebar configuration.

For example, I was not able to upload files from Downloads or Documents folders, because they were missing from the list. They are standard folders, present on all computers.

I also tried to drag the Downloads folders from Finder's sidebar but MarsEdit rejected to add the folder.

I am complaining about this because I like MarsEdit and I hope that this will be solved in future versions.

PS. An workaround is to drag the folder from the right panel to the window.
  • Hi - thanks for the feedback. You're right that other folders like Downloads or Documents might be reasonable additions to the built-in folders for the Media Manager.

It's worth noting you can drag in whatever folders you like, and they will become available for you in the media manager from then on. So if you have favorite folders that are not currently present, it may help.

Also worth noting, you can always open up Window -> Upload Utility and drag a file or image directly to it to upload. Dragging a file or image directly to the post content of an open post editor window's post content will also automatically open up this uploader.

So, point taken about enhancing the Media Manager window to show other folders, but there are some useful workarounds that might help in the mean time while I make the main Media Manager window more useful.
