Uploading an animated GIF to Tumblr via MarsEdit

I just bought MarsEdit and bumped into an issue already. Seems ME does not recognise a GIF and uploads it as a different format (PNG). That's really not good! Am I doing something wrong here? GIFs are here to stay and more popular than ever, particularly on Tumblrs, we need the file format to stay put. Cheers, M

I just uploaded the same GIF via Tumblrs interface and that one worked. The GIF is under 500kb so complies with their guidelines. :-/

Thanks - I think you're right, MarsEdit is inadvertently converting the GIF to png, but only for Tumblr posts. I think it must be a side-effect of that Tumblr photo-post UI in the post editor. I'm writing a bug to myself. Unfortunately I can't think of a workaround in the meantime.

That's a real shame. Keep in mind there are a lot of GIF tumblrs out there. It's a bit of a killer for me being able to use Marsedit decently :-(
