If you are testing MarsEdit on Mountain Lion DP3, there is a major new bug that you should be aware of, causing MarsEdit to crash when connecting to your blog. I am currently working on a workaround for the bug and hope to have a beta release of MarsEdit 3.5.1 available soon for people who are interested in testing it.
Update: MarsEdit 3.5.1 is available now, so I encourage you to use the latest release of MarsEdit to avoid the crash-prone behavior:
everything seemed to work fine on ML DP3 on my machine, until today's update and now whenever I try adding my homepage (accidentally deleted it), I get this message:
"Can’t get recent posts for SMMC Blog because the server reported an error: Invalid website ()."
I've got one blog post that does not show up in MarsEdit, but works just fine on my blog. Main blog address is http://restartgtd.com and the blog post in question is from 12/29/2011 and is located here:
Hi bill - is this specific to Mountain Lion DP3, or did it end up posted under this topic by mistake?
It sounds like what you're running into is the fact that, by default, MarsEdit will only download the 30 most recent posts from a blog. You can raise the number in MarsEdit's blog settings under the "General" tab. You should be aware though that as the number of the posts gets very high you probably won't want to have MarsEdit downloading all of the posts on your blog, as it puts a larger strain on the server and makes the refresh take a bit longer.
At some point I would like to try to improve MarsEdit so it's more capable of downloading all the posts of a blog efficiently, but currently the APIs for most popular blog systems do not provided a mechanism for downloading all posts efficiently.
Sorry Daniel, pilot error. But, I have now learned that blogs have settings!
Another possible ML problem is that MarsEdit is crashing for me frequently. When I drop an image in, likely to crash. When I click save draft, likely to crash. MarsEdit has been sending every crash back to the mother ship.
