It looks like the photo post type from MarsEdit to Tumblr will only handle one image. Is there any way to get it to do a photoset/slideshow?

Currently MarsEdit is limited to one photo at a time for MarsEdit. Multiple photos is something I am considering for a future update.

I'll add that I would *love* a bulk image upload. That's the one feature I would use often if it existed. (Especially if you can hook in some of the gallery customization features to allow us to choose gallery options.)
