Adding an Enclosure

An enclosure is an external file, such as a podcast audio file, which is attached to a post. The enclosure does not normally appear in the content of your post, but is detected by appliations such as iTunes. Check with your weblog system documentation to see if this feature is supported for your weblog.

To apply an enclosure to a post, choose Post > Edit Enclosure…

A sheet will appear on the post editor window. Specify the details of the file you wish to attach to the post.

enclosures

The URL should point to your enclosure’s permanent location on the web. The MIME type and length of the file are important details for applications that read the enclosure from your post. MarsEdit can automatically fetch the values for these fields. If the file is already available at the specified URL, click the From URL button, otherwise click the From File button and select the file from your local disk.

A note for WordPress users: Prior to WordPress 2.6, attachment of enclosures was not supported from remote clients such as MarsEdit. If you wish to take advantage of enclosure support, you should update to 2.6 or later.
