Feature Request: iPhoto integration

    Hi Daniel,

    Congrats on taking on MarsEdit. I look forward to seeing what you're going to add and improve.

    I'd love to see a way to add photos to a post from iPhoto or the filesystem.

    This is the one thing that ecto does that works really well for me -- it uploads two versions, a thumbnail which is included in the post, and the full-size photo, which is linked to from the thumbnail in the post. Very simple and very handy.

    Hi Patrick - thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely going to be looking at ways to improve the image uploading workflow. I've gotten some other feedback suggesting some cool ideas like allowing image cropping and resizing when adding. The Ecto-style thumbnail and full-size distinction also sounds good.

    I'll be examining this area carefully for possible improvements - probably in the 2.0 timeframe.

    I'd like to see some Flickr integration. The user could pick the photo from a view and MarsEdit would auto insert the code for the picture. Maybe have some controls to customize the link (similar to the way the attribution is customizable), size, etc.

    Yeah, that'd be very useful.

    I'm using FlickIt (http://chancecube.com/products/flickit/) right now for a subset of that, but having it built into ME would be even better.

    Cool. I would like to see something like ImageWell (http://xtralean.com/IWOverview.html). Dragging an image to the application icon of MarsEdit creates a new post with another window for the image resizing/cropping open would be fantastic.

    Integration with other drawing apps is also cool. Skitch (http://plasq.com/skitch) and FlySketch (http://flyingmeat.com/flysketch/) are nice to work with MarsEdit.

    Thanks guys for the comments - I haven't looked at FlickIt or ImageWell yet but I'm going to check those out. I'm familiar with FlySketch and Skitch and will be looking into what I can do to make integration with them as seamless as possible.
